Analysis Of Stephen Chbosky s The Catcher Rye And F....
Stephen Chbosky was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 25,1970. ââ¬Å"He is the son Lea, a taxpayer, and Fred B Chbosky, a steel company executive and consultants to CFOââ¬â¢sâ⬠. Stephen went to the University of South Carolina and received his bachelor s degree in Fine Arts in the film writing program of 1992. He was Stephen was greatly influenced by J. D. Salinger s novels ââ¬Å"The Catcher in The Ryeâ⬠and F. Scott Fitzgerald and Tennessee Williams. ââ¬Å"Elizabeth Thompson said in Stephen Biography thatâ⬠He married Liz Chbosky on September 18, 2010, they had a daughter named Maccie who was born in Augustâ⬠(Thompson 3).The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an epistolary novel that follows an intellectual and emotional maturation of a teenager who uses the alias of Charlie over the course of his first year of high school. The Perks of Being a Wallflower was banned because parent complained about the books decpetion of homosexualtiy, sex, masturbati on, and the use of alcohol and drugs. Elizabeth Thompson stated ââ¬Å" 2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is the only controversial book that Stephen wrote. The reason people are labeling this book ââ¬Å"controversialâ⬠due to Chboskyââ¬â¢s portrayals of teens sexuality and the alcohol and drug use. Erin Abbamondi, who also wrote a summary on why Stephen s book states that, ââ¬Å" Chbosky only wrote one book that was shunned from public schoolsâ⬠(Banned 8).
